What is managed WordPress hosting?
Managed WordPress hosting means someone else handles the server. You get a WordPress site that is already installed, secured, and configured — without touching a terminal, configuring PHP, or worrying about SSL certificates. The hosting provider manages updates, security, backups, and performance so you can focus on your actual website.
With traditional hosting (Bluehost, GoDaddy, shared cPanel plans), you get a server and a “good luck.” You install WordPress yourself, configure PHP settings, set up SSL, handle security hardening, manage your own backups, and troubleshoot performance issues. It is cheaper, but it is also a part-time job you did not sign up for.
Managed WordPress hosting eliminates that entire layer. The server is optimized specifically for WordPress, updates happen automatically, and if something breaks, the hosting provider fixes it. The trade-off is cost — managed hosting typically costs $25–$50/month instead of $5–$10/month for shared hosting. Whether that trade-off makes sense depends on how you value your time.
Why Dreamformer managed hosting is different
Every managed WordPress host gives you a server with WordPress installed. Dreamformer gives you a server with WordPress installed and an AI that builds your site for you.
When you sign up for Dreamformer hosting, you get a dedicated cloud server (not shared hosting — your own isolated machine) with Nginx, PHP 8.3, MariaDB, Redis object caching, and Cloudflare CDN already configured. WordPress is installed with the Dreamformer Pro plugin pre-activated. Within 10 minutes of signing up, you can start describing pages in plain English and watching them get built.
This is the difference: WP Engine, SiteGround, and Kinsta give you an empty WordPress installation and expect you to build the site yourself (or hire someone). Dreamformer gives you the server and the builder. One subscription covers both infrastructure and AI-powered site creation. No separate page builder license, no theme purchase, no developer invoices.
The hosting is purpose-built for AI-generated sites. The server stack is tuned for the kind of workloads Dreamformer produces — fast PHP execution for theme editing, generous memory limits for AI code generation, and Redis caching for quick page loads. It is not a generic WordPress host that happens to have a plugin installed. The two products are designed to work together.
Everything included with every hosting plan
No add-ons, no upsells, no hidden costs. Every plan includes all of this.
Managed WordPress hosting for small business
You need a professional website but do not have the budget for a developer or the patience for a DIY page builder. Dreamformer hosting gives you both the server and the AI builder in one subscription. Describe your business — “Italian restaurant in Brooklyn with online menu and reservations” — and get a production site in minutes.
No one on your team needs to understand hosting, DNS, SSL, or WordPress configuration. Everything is pre-configured. You focus on describing what your website should look like and the AI handles the rest. If something needs updating six months later, just tell the AI what to change.
Managed WordPress hosting for agencies
You manage client sites and need to spin up new WordPress installations quickly. Each Dreamformer hosting plan gives you a dedicated server for one client site, fully provisioned in under 10 minutes. Use the AI builder to generate the initial design from a brief, then refine with the visual editor during client calls.
The time savings add up: instead of spending a day setting up hosting, installing WordPress, configuring plugins, and building a first draft, you spend 10 minutes. Multiply that across dozens of client projects per year. Each site runs on its own isolated server, so one client’s traffic spike does not affect another.
How Dreamformer compares to other managed WordPress hosts
| Feature | Dreamformer | WP Engine | SiteGround | Kinsta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI site builder included | Yes (Pro) | No | No | No |
| Dedicated server (not shared) | Yes | Shared | Shared | Isolated |
| CDN included | Cloudflare | Proprietary | Cloudflare | Cloudflare |
| Free SSL | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Auto WordPress updates | Minor | All | All | All |
| Staging environment | Not yet | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Automated backups | Server-level | Daily | Daily | Daily |
| 24/7 support | Chat + phone | Chat + phone | Chat | |
| Custom domain | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Starting price | $29/mo | $20/mo | $3/mo | $35/mo |
The honest comparison: WP Engine, SiteGround, and Kinsta are more mature hosting providers with deeper infrastructure features — staging environments, automated daily backups, and 24/7 live support. If raw hosting is all you need, they are strong choices (especially SiteGround at $3/month for small sites).
Dreamformer’s advantage is the AI builder bundled in. You are not just getting a server — you are getting the tool to build the site that goes on it. If you would otherwise need to buy hosting ($20–$35/month) plus a page builder or developer ($500–$5,000+), the combined Dreamformer package is significantly cheaper. If you already have a finished site and just need hosting, a traditional managed host may be the better fit.
Hosting plans
Every plan includes a dedicated server, Dreamformer Pro, SSL, CDN, and custom domain support.
- 100 AI credits per month
- Dedicated cloud server
- Cloudflare CDN + free SSL
- Custom domain or .dreamformer.io
- Redis caching + Nginx + PHP 8.3
- 200 AI credits per month
- Dedicated cloud server
- Cloudflare CDN + free SSL
- Custom domain or .dreamformer.io
- Redis caching + Nginx + PHP 8.3
- 500 AI credits per month
- Dedicated cloud server
- Cloudflare CDN + free SSL
- Custom domain or .dreamformer.io
- Redis caching + Nginx + PHP 8.3
All plans include the same server specs and infrastructure. The only difference is the number of AI credits per month. Credits are based on actual AI token usage — simple edits use fewer credits than complex full-page generations. A typical page generation uses around 5–15 credits depending on complexity.
What is actually running on your server
Transparency matters when choosing hosting. Here is the exact stack we provision for every Dreamformer hosting plan:
Hardware: Dedicated cloud instance with 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM, and 40GB NVMe SSD. Your site runs on its own machine — not shared with other customers.
Operating system: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with automatic security updates.
Web server: Nginx with HTTP/2 support, optimized for WordPress. Static asset caching headers (30 days for images, CSS, JS). 256MB upload limit.
PHP: PHP 8.3-FPM with 512MB memory limit, 300-second max execution time, Redis object caching via the Redis Cache plugin. Extensions include imagick, mbstring, curl, zip, gd, intl, bcmath, and soap.
Database: MariaDB with UTF-8 mb4 encoding. Dedicated database user per site, not root.
Security: UFW firewall (only ports 22, 80, 443 open), fail2ban for brute force protection, SSH key-only authentication, restrictive file permissions (wp-config.php set to 600). WordPress file editing disabled via DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT.
DNS and CDN: Cloudflare proxied DNS with automatic cache purging. Custom domains use Cloudflare custom hostnames with automatic DV SSL provisioning.
Backups: Server-level backups are enabled on every instance as a safety net. For WordPress-specific backups with easy one-click restore, we recommend installing UpdraftPlus (free) or BlogVault. Automated WordPress backup integration is on our roadmap.
What we do not include yet: Staging environments and 24/7 live chat support. These are on our roadmap. For now, support is via email.
Frequently asked questions about managed WordPress hosting
Under 10 minutes. When you sign up, we automatically provision a dedicated cloud server, install WordPress, activate Dreamformer Pro, configure SSL and Cloudflare CDN, and send you login credentials via email. You do not need to do anything — just wait for the email and log in.
Yes. Every hosting plan includes a free yourname.dreamformer.io subdomain, but you can connect your own domain at any time. Point a CNAME record to your Dreamformer subdomain, and we handle the rest — SSL certificate, CDN configuration, and WordPress URL migration are all automatic.
Yes. This is a standard WordPress installation. You can install any plugin from the WordPress directory or upload premium plugins. WooCommerce, Yoast SEO, Contact Form 7, Advanced Custom Fields — everything works. You can also install any WordPress theme alongside or instead of the Dreamformer base theme.
Before your server is deactivated, you can export your entire WordPress site using a standard migration plugin (like All-in-One WP Migration) and move it to any other WordPress host. Because Dreamformer builds standard WordPress sites with real code, there is nothing proprietary to worry about. The generated pages, themes, and code all work on any WordPress installation.
Currently, new hosting plans start with a fresh WordPress installation. If you have an existing site, you can migrate it manually using a migration plugin after your Dreamformer server is provisioned. We are working on an automated migration tool, but it is not available yet.
Server-level backups are enabled on every instance as a disaster recovery safety net. For WordPress-specific backups with easy one-click restore (like what WP Engine and SiteGround offer), we recommend installing UpdraftPlus (free) or BlogVault. These work on Dreamformer hosting exactly like they work on any other host. Integrated WordPress backup/restore is on our roadmap.
The stack is optimized for performance: Nginx (not Apache), PHP 8.3 (not 7.x), Redis object caching, Cloudflare CDN, and NVMe SSD storage. For a typical Dreamformer-generated site, you can expect sub-second page loads. The server is dedicated to your site, so there is no “noisy neighbor” problem you get with shared hosting.
